senior communications advisor

José van Gelder was born (1964) and bred in Arnhem. After working as a management assistant for several organisations in the domain of agriculture, she re-trained as a communications expert in 1997. During this study, she worked as a trainee for the communications department of a large insurance company. In 2002, she started working for Agriterra.

As senior communications advisor, José supports the teams in their communication on the results of our work in developing countries. Besides she is responsible for corporate communication. Our communication and PR activities focuses on (such as press contacts, events or the development of communication material)strengthening the basis of support amongst rural sectors in the Netherlands for agricultural development cooperation.

José also coordinates the international communication for AgriCord, the alliance of agri agencies (organisations similar to Agriterra in other western countries) and the cooperation with the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ). She has participated as an expert in missions of Agriterra to Nepal, Kenya, Madasgascar and Indonesia.
