liaison officer
After graduating in Agricultural Development of Tropical Regions at the International Agricultural College Larenstein in Deventer, Géke Appeldoorn (Bunschoten, 1964) worked for 4 years in the East of Cameroon. There, she worked for SNV in the Baka project that aimed at a better integration of the Pygmies, who originally live as nomads in the forests, into Cameroonian society. In 1997, she left to Burkina Faso where she worked in an isolated area as the person responsible for information and communication. After a brief stay in the Netherlands, she went back to Burkina Faso in 2002, where she worked for the Ministry of Agriculture. There, Géke was responsible for the integration of gender aspects into agricultural policy.
While still living in Burkina Faso, Géke applied for a job with Agriterra. Since her appointment as liaison officer in May 2006, she has settled in the Netherlands again. Géke focuses on French speaking Africa and her main subjects are training, participative methods, institutional development, grass-roots entrepreneurship and gender.
