Mariëlle Schreurs (Breda, 1969) studied Tropical Agriculture at the Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), with as speciality irrigation and sociology. She worked for 7 years in West Africa (Guinée-Conakry and Togo) in collaboration with rural communities, farmer organisations, NGO's and research institutes, in the field of soil fertility, increase in agricultural production and food security.

After this period, she worked for 6 years with Trias in Brussels, a Belgian agri-agency where she supported programmes in the field of local economic development in some African and Latin American countries.

Mariëlle started working for Agriterra as a liaison officer in February 2009 and advises farmer organisations in West Africa. Moreover she is also manager of the work area inputs for agriculture.
