Strengthening Grass root representation &support

Jan 1, 2005-Dec 31, 2005

KENFAP places a high premium on the strength and cohesion within the federation and capacity within its constituent associations for democratic, transparent and accountable management. To this end KENFAP will focus on building leadership and management capacity within its commodity associations and improving dialogue and information exchange between them and KENFAP. A significant amount of time and effort will be invested in developing and sustaining information transfer systems. Extensive use will be made of the print, radio and electronic media. KENFAP will respond in full measure to the demands of its members for current information on market trends, conditions and opportunities. The information system will also be used to promote sustainable agricultural technologies and create awareness among members of agricultural and macro-economic policies, the policy formation process, gender issues and the scourge of HIV/AIDS.

Self - reliance in commodity associations will be built by improving their capacity to provide services to their members either directly or through negotiated agreements with service providers. Where feasible, KENFAP will step in to provide services on a commercial basis.
