Internal mainstreaming HIV and AIDS in UOSPA : focus on staff

This proposal and budget concerns a period of 2 years and is the result of the trajectory Towards better HIV/AIDS competent producer organisations (project 5230).
HIV/AIDS not only affects UOSPAs members, but also has an immense impact on internal organization of UOSPA as staffs themselves become both affected and infected. For UOSPA there is high need for internal and external mainstreaming of HIV/AIDS in its programmes; it is recruiting staff from and working with communities in highest HIV prevalence. Organizational resilience can be developed by staff awareness programmes and creating HIV/AIDS organization policies.
UOSPA has to undertake proactive activities to internally and externally mainstream HIV/AIDS in its activities by: assessing the economic costs of HIV/AIDS on the organization, developing an HIV/AIDS workplace policy, identify HIV/AIDS collaborating partners, build the competency of staff on HIV/AIDS issues and adjust its development programmes so as to benefit the affected and infected beneficiaries.
Main activities of the project are:
1. To carry out anonymous staff survey and interviews with key informants in UOSPA.
2. Identification and lobbying of HIV/AIDS support and service organization to support UOSPA affected households and infected members (vulnerable beneficiaries).
3. Development of HIV/AIDS work place policy.
