UNAG Chinandega is one of the 18 regions of Nicaragua where the UNAG National has a representation. Agriterra has worked with UNAG National and has a cooperative relationship with UNAG- Chontales (Region of Chontales).
Three organisational profilings were carried out for UNAG-Chontales in the year 2001-2003-2006, achieving important improvements in the last year for almost all organizational indicators, except for the indicator of income diversification which has decreased. Agriterra has elaborated a strengthening strategy for this organisation.
UNAG Chinandega has a representation in 11 of a total of 13 municipalities in the region.
The proposal has two objectives: one is for UNAG Chinandega to have for one year the expertise of a junior professional at its disposal. This junior professional will provide assistance in the area of participative methods of planning, training staff and representatives on project design and local economic development and strengthening of local business, and elaborating a strategy of Economic Development etc.
The other objective is strengthening the CEGE (entrepreneurship management centre, Centro de Gestion Empresarial) of UNAG Chinandega which is responsible for giving assistance in the areas of project design, training, feasibility studies, market information, statutes formulation etc. , with the objective of fulfilling the demands of the producers and to support them in the access to the market, and to improve the levels of production, quality, efficiency and innovation within other services.
This project proposal was presented to PSO, the Dutch foundation for development organisations, in order to finance the one year salaris of a junior proffesional. The proposal was approved by PSO.
