A powerful Palestinian women
Thursday, February 25, 2010
Mrs. Salam Odeh, farmer in Palestine, used to spent most of her time at home or at the farm. She didn’t dare to talk in public for many people. In 2005 she joined the Women Cooperative of Saida, a member of the Palestinian Farmers’ Union. Workshops in leadership, expressing yourself, women’s rights etc. turned her into a much more powerful woman. With her husband and five children she lives in the village Saida in the Tulkarem district. The family runs a mixed farm: they have 40 sheep and also grow wheat and barley. The workshops changed her life enormously. Before she stayed at home or at the farm, now she is involved in village activities and she even is member of the county board of her village!
