Become a host family
We are looking for families that would like to become a host. The idea is that the foreign guest can spend the night at the host family’s and enjoy a pleasant and valuable time in the Netherlands. For example, the host family might show him or her something of the surroundings and the way in which people live and work in the Netherlands.
Host family in practice
Duration
The duration of stay with a host family varies from visit to visit, but is generally from one to two days. Agriterra will ask the host family with plenty of anticipation if it is available to receive a guest. We will also make transparent logistical agreements with both parties concerning the beginning and end of the visit of the guest at the host family’s.
Language
Most visitors come from Africa, Asia and Latin America and speak English, French or Spanish.
Programme
The most important purpose is to offer the visitor, besides his or her official programme, a pleasant stay in the Netherlands. The host family is free to define the programme depending on the time available, the possibilities and the interests.
Compensation
Agriterra compensates the expenses of the host family, as well as those of the visitor. These include, amongst others, transport, meals and consumptions outdoors, and eventually admission tickets and the like. The standard compensation for this is 25 Euros per person per day.
Application
The application is free and does not entail any compromise. In case a registered host family has no time to receive a visitor, Agriterra will contact another host family.
