Internship in Congo

SYDIP (Syndicat de Defense des Interets Paysans) is a farmers’ union in the province North-Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The plan to raise an union came up in 1990, after the president of Congo gave his permission to raise organisations, besides the existing organisations of the government. Twelve famers’ organisations and NGO’s came up with the plan to raise SYDIP, and in 1993 SYDIP was a fact. The organisation has the target to improve the social-economic situation of farmers by strengthen their lobby-capacities and improve the farming activities.

Agriterra, the Dutch organisation for international cooperation, supported by rural membership organisations, supports SYDIP to achieve its target. Agriterra is looking for a trainee (m/f) for the communication department of SYDIP. The trainee will analyse the intern and extern communication of the organisation. He/she will develop communication-tools at local, national as well as international level.

Profile

  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Internet)
  • Capability to understand agrarian and economic statistics
  • Experience of collecting information on video and camera
  • Excellent knowledge of the French language
  • Education: at least HBO Communication, the internship of the 3rd or 4th year
