At the NRM
Agriterra at the NRM
On Friday 27 and Saturday 28 June Agriterra was prominently present at the 'Nationale Rundvee Manifestatie' (National Cattle Manifestation – NRM) in Utrecht with the Agriterra World Pavilion to celebrate its tenth anniversary together with its special guests and all visitors. Why did we want to celebrate this anniversary at the NRM? Because as a Dutch organisation for agricultural development cooperation from farmer to farmer (male as well as female) we can reach a large part of the Dutch (agrarian) population through this biennial international milk cattle show.
The NRM took place in the 'Veemarkthallen' (Cattle Market Halls) in Utrecht. The previous editions of this happening attracted between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors from the Netherlands and abroad. In 2006, on the occasion of the tenth NRM, the Dutch Queen Beatrix was present too. During this eleventh edition Agriterra was present with a festive World Pavilion of over 500 m2 on the edge of the arena where the demonstrations of the daughters' groups and the cattle inspections took place.
The whole World Pavilion was pervaded with the atmosphere of “10 years of Agriterra”. Various projects and partnerships were illustrated and explained, so that visitors saw what Agriterra has been doing with success for 10 years already. Moreover there were numerous activities in the pavilion, such as:
- an exhibition of cattle pictures by Marleen Felius
- a rodeo bull on which visitors can make a wild ride.
- a 'Melkveecafé' (Dairy Cattle Café), where farmers from the Netherlands and abroad met to learn from each other, organised by Agriterra in collaboration with the 'Melkveeacademie'
- the opportunity to speed date with famous people from the world of agriculture
- proclamation of the winner of the Business Plan Contest by former minister Agnes van Ardenne (on Friday 27 June)
- a desk with information about rural tourism travels, to countries such as Kenya, Vietnam and Ecuador
- an exhibition of bronze statues of bulls, horses and roosters, made available by sculptor Anton ter Braak
- performances by a Senegalese percussion band and Roanplush
And there were much more things to see and do in the pavilion. Of course there were drinks and snacks, music and dance at the celebration in the Agriterra World Pavilion.
