Fatuma Akumu Nyanjong is a dynamic and results driven Agribusiness Specialist and agricultural cooperative development expert. Fatuma joined Agriterra in March 2024 as a Cooperative Advisor under the Farmer Focused Transformation Project. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a diploma in Business Management. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Before joining Agriterra, she worked as a Team Leader cooperatives strategy with Nuru International Kenya, a local Non-Governmental Organization working with smallholder producer cooperatives. Her main role was to support smallholder cooperatives become sustainable through designing sustainable farmer led solutions. She supported the cooperatives with market linkages and acted as the liaison between the cooperatives and the National and County Government Cooperative and Market Development Department in Southern Nyanza region and Baringo County. She has also worked with Kenya National Farmers Federation in different capacities in Nyanza, Western and North Rift regions of Kenya.
Fatuma brings to the organisation a wealth of knowledge and experience in formation and management of sustainable farmer led organisations and agricultural/producer cooperatives. She is very motivated about growing strong sustainable farmer led organizations along the agriculture product value chains offering quality and affordable services to their members and creating sustainable opportunities for women and youth resulting in economically empowered and resilient rural communities.
