Merlyn Francisco is a transaction and business advisory professional with over 13 years of experience in financial, commercial, and tax services supporting various local and foreign companies in analyzing the risks attendant to their transactions, and in providing relevant advice on their strategic initiatives.
She was a Senior Director at SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co, a member firm of Ernst & Young Global and the largest public accounting practice in the Philippines. Even as she was in the private sector, development work resonated with her and this later on led her to make the giant leap into the non-profit sector joining the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) in 2016 as Social Enterprise Institute Manager leading capacity building efforts for social enterprise sustainability and growth. These social enterprises, which primarily include agricultural cooperatives, farmer organizations, and other entrepreneurial non-profits collectively champion inclusive development and poverty reduction programs in their respective areas. At PEF, she also steered the Foundation’s participation in the Zero Extreme Poverty Philippines 2030 movement and managed its Islamic Microfinance capacity development program in partnership and close collaboration with other development organizations.
Merlyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of the Philippines and is a Certified Public Accountant. She also graduated from the Asian Institute of Management with a Master in Development Management.
