Nghia Binh (NBAC) is a small agricultural cooperative of poor farmers producing rice over years in the Red River delta of Vietnam. They have been a client of Agriterra since early 2020. With our continuous advisory in strategic planning and capacity building, by the end of 2021, NBAC has successfully developed and commercialised their two local specialty rice products: Red Rice and Northern Glutinous Rice.

In December 2021, we received the good news that the cooperative has obtained OCOP certification officially for the two mentioned rice products.

Vietnam has implemented the ‘One Commune One Product’ (OCOP) Programme since 2006. The Programme aims at rural economic development and focuses on increasing internal resources and adding values. The core of this programme is to improve agricultural and non-agricultural products and service-based products in each locality, creating a value chain involving the private (including enterprises, cooperatives, households) and collective economy sector.

This certification is a great achievement and an important milestone for the development of the cooperative. The products of NBAC will start to be available for selling online for local consumers on their new developed e-commerce website in early 2022.
Access to e-commerce and digital economy will also be one of our priority interventions for the time to come.
