Bob Jan Schoot Uiterkamp (1987) joined Agriterra in 2017 as Country Representative Myanmar. Bob Jan holds a MSc in International Business and Management and a MSc in International Development Studies. During his studies’, he had the opportunity to open his eyes for inequality and injustice based on internships in India, Indonesia and Tanzania. After graduating, he worked for FrieslandCampina, first as Corporate Management Trainee, later in Sales. After five years, Bob Jan made the switch to Agriterra to establish Agriterra’s country office in Myanmar.
After two years in Myanmar, Bob Jan returned to the Netherlands and continued to work for Agriterra in the position as trainer/advisor. In this position Bob Jan is responsible to set-up Agriterra’s global learning and development activities. Meanwhile he specialises himself into personal development through a one-year coaching course.
Bob Jan can best be described as a connector with a positive and open mind-set who likes to work in challenging settings. Challenges motivates Bob Jan to reach joint goals based on a can-do mentality, cooperation, perseverance and fun. Bob Jan uses these characteristics, in combination with a passion to support colleagues to realise their full potential, to further improve Agriterra’s impact at cooperatives and farmer organisations.
Bob Jan likes to understand cultures, religions, history and charges his battery with all kinds of outdoor activities and mindfulness. Purpose, Adventure, Connect, and Explore (PACE) are the driving forces behind Bob Jan’s choices in life. Given the benefits it gave him, and a willingness to support others, he now writes a book about the concept.
