Christian Gouët (Chilean Agronomist) is now an international Business Advisor of Agriterra in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. He worked several years as an international consultant based in France, was the Development Program Manager for the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) and an invited researcher at Wageningen University, The Netherlands (Knowledge, Technology and Innovation Group).
Christian began working in Chile directing extension programs and as advisor at farm level, as partner of a consultancy firm and as CEO of a farmers-owned agribusiness and service provision company. In the last years he developed, piloted and rolled out a method for policy proposals’ preparation & policy dialogue: Farmers Advocacy Consultation Tool -FACT (now translated into 12 languages) -and a methodology for strategic planning of farmers’ organsations & cooperatives’ financial sustainability. He also adviced ILO for the conceptualisation of the MyCoop training modules (and is a principal Trainer of Trainers for MyCoop). Christian advised farmers’ organisations & cooperatives, governments, international organisations and international foundations and social investment funds in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
His scope of knowledge, professional experience and on-hand skills includes: agribusiness’ management, investments analysis & business planning, policy preparation & dialogue, Lobby & Advocacy, financial management -and agriculture-related practice in general: from soil analysis to production, to processing and marketing, to service provision, to policy preparation & policy dialogue.
He published scientific articles, opinion articles, manuals and book chapters in several topics like farmers organisations‘ roles in development, innovation & cooperatives management, policy proposals preparation, financial sustainability of organisations and cooperatives, soil sciences and precision agriculture (besides more than 100 reports of international advisory missions).
