This week, more than 100 professionals from the Dutch seed industry attended the Dutch Seeds Debate organised by Agriterra in the Hague. Seed companies, knowlegde institutions, government, farmers and NGOs discussed the future of seeds and the potential for businesses and smallholder farmers in developing countries.
Ido Verhagen, director of the Access to Seeds Index, presented the research results for index countries. Other speakers were Maaike Groot of East West Seeds, Marja Thijssen of CDI, Backer Brothers, Monsanto, Ministry of Foreign and Economic Affairs and WUR.
