After completing her study Chinese language and culture in Leiden, Gabriéla Versteeg worked for 4 years as Chief Representative at the Netherlands Business Support Office in China (Jinan, Shandong). These NBSO’s support the economic department of a Dutch Embassy in a specific country, on provincial level. The agricultural sector was well represented in Shandong, so her main network of companies and government and her main working scope was in that field.
After returning to the Netherlands Gabriéla was responsible for the operations of the NBSO offices in China. Later on, as Advisor International Trade at the Chamber of Commerce Midden Nederland, her main focus was on advising Dutch companies on international trade. Challenging, but too general and too broad for her.
In 2012 Gabriéla started her own company (Zakelijk China), with the focus on advising and assisting Dutch companies doing business with China, almost all of which were in the Agrofood sector. Since 2013 she did several assignments for Agriterra as Quartermaker and Business Developer, developing the market, establishing the (for China so-necessary) government relations, a cooperative client base, and the working structure in China.
Since November 2017 Gabriéla works as Business Advisor for Agriterra China, and since April 2018 for both China and Indonesia. Next to that she is a trainer for the Agriterra Marketing Basics Training. As member of the Market Linkage work group she supports the process of deal making of companies looking for sourcing opportunities at cooperatives.
