Marnix Sanderse is Business Advisor in Zambia. He is engaged in strengthening the capacities of agricultural organisations and cooperatives through advisory services in agro-entrepreneurship, business development and advocacy.
Marnix became passionate about agricultural development during an internship in Tanzania, where he researched the capacity needs of farmer groups growing pulses. After that, he started his career at the Dutch government, where he gained expertise in private sector development and SME finance. Following a 6 month break in which he travelled independently through East and Southern Africa, his heart and mind were set on staying there.
Before joining Agriterra, Marnix worked at the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Nairobi, Kenya. As Agricultural Officer he was involved in the promotion of trade and investments by Dutch agribusinesses in Kenya. In addition, he gained work experience as Research Analyst at a Kenyan lobby organisation for the private sector.
Marnix believes in the promotion of agro-entrepreneurship as key to growth of the agricultural sector. He is results-oriented, has strong analytical and writing skills and enjoys networking with people. He also has a keen interest in mastering foreign languages such as Kiswahili.
Marnix holds Master’s degrees in Economics and Development Studies from Utrecht University.
