The impact of the PADANE Project on Gloriose and her community

Since 2021, Agriterra is a major partner of SNV in the PADANE Project in Burundi. The project, which aims to improve the living conditions of agricultural households, women, young people, and market actors through increased incomes, job creation for youth and women, food and nutritional security, and resilience to climate change, is set to end in December 2024. 

Dutch agricultural expertise makes a difference!

Rien Geuze, a former Agriterra employee, returned to Kenya after ten years to visit the projects he had set up there between 2011 and 2014. He was positively surprised by the many changes he saw, such as factories that had been built, the huge development of marketing and the impact of the exchange visits between the Netherlands and Kenya.  

Agriterra supported cooperative for better ergonomics

Oromia Agricultural Cooperatives Federation (OACF) was established in May 2009 in Addis Ababa, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. Initially founded by 40 cooperative unions, with a starting capital of 18.3 million, 1698 primary cooperatives, and 1,158,358 individual members. 

Youth-driven transformation in the coffee cooperative

Abakundakawa Rushashi, a registered coffee cooperative in northern Rwanda since 2004, produces high-altitude coffee in the hills of the Gakenke district.  The Ishema Youth Coffee Group, part of the cooperative, started in 2018 with 233 members and has now grown to over 400 young members.

Implementing an All-Year-Round Fodder Availability Model

Life as a dairy farmer in Kenya comes with its challenges, and one big problem is not having enough food for your cows all year round. When the rains don't come, grass and crops dry up, and cows suffer. This means less milk, less money, and less food for our families.

Having Coffee in Bonga, Ethiopia

Wijbrand Fabius, now Stakeholder Manager Sustainability at ABN AMRO, has a solid background in financing the international commodity trade, especially in coffee and cocoa. Wijbrand went to Ethiopia as an Agripool expert for Agriterra to review and assess the business plan and financing of the Kafa Forest Coffee Farmers' Cooperative Union.

Together with Dawit Setegn, the local Agriterra advisor, he travelled to Bonga, in the southwest of Ethiopia. Over the course of a week, they spoke with various members of the union, visited cooperatives, and met farmers in remote areas. Communication was sometimes challenging due to the different languages spoken. Nevertheless, much information was gathered on the relationship between cooperatives and the Union with the ultimate aim of enabling a partnership between the union and Agriterra.

Empowering women farmers in Rwanda

ICYEREKEZO 20-31 TABA is a maize cooperative, based in Murambi Village in the Northern Part of Rwanda. In 2023, the cooperative established a women's council with the aims of increasing self-confidence, assuming leadership positions, and increasing the standard of living for its female members by enhancing their financial literacy. The cooperative started with 133 members, each contributing 5,000 Rwf as a share and 500 Rwf per week.

Sustainable cooperative development across Vietnam

As of 2023, Agriterra's footprint spans across 17 provinces in Vietnam, directly supporting over 70 projects and partners and indirectly assisting 200 more.
Reaching over 80,000 farmers, Agriterra equips and strengthens farmers´ organisations so they can boost their services for farmers to increase their productivity, involving youth & women leadership and becoming smart cooperatives, responding to climate change.
