Trainer & Advisor

Nicole Sloot

Nicole Sloot was born and raised on a farm with arable land in Germany, close to the Dutch border. After her high school graduation in 2008, she decided to take a gap year in which she volunteered and worked for various companies in the hospitality industry. Besides, she went to San Francisco for one month to obtain a certificate in business English.

She has built up extensive working experience by working in the hospitality industry for 10 years. After her graduation at Hotelschool The Hague in Amsterdam and a pre-master in accounting at Radboud University, her passion for the agricultural sector won out and she decided to continue her studies at Wageningen University & Research. She wrote her master thesis on member commitment at cooperatives on behalf of NCR, the National Cooperative Council of the Netherlands.

After the completion of her thesis, Nicole started as an intern at Agriterra where she executed a project on youth participation at cooperatives. This resulted in an investigation of youth participation at Dutch cooperatives and clients of Agriterra in Zambia and Indonesia. After her internship, she started her career as a business advisor at Agriterra, with youth as a focal point.

Nicole strongly believes in the power of people. Commitment and having everyone on board is of vital importance to the success of projects and change trajectories. Her strength is to emphasise and connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds. Besides, she is focused on achieving good results at clients.

At Agriterra, her passion for, people, culture, travelling and agriculture comes together. In her free time, she enjoys baking and cooking, spending time with friends and family and being outside. In the wintertime, she loves to go snowboarding.
