Willemijn Blokland joined Agriterra on 1 August 2015 as client information analyst. Willemijn focusses her work on clients in Africa. She provides in-depth financial performance analysis for agricultural organisations and cooperatives to help them successfully diversify, improve and scale their operations. Willemijn is proactive, has strong analytical skills, and connects well with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Willemijn has previously worked and lived in the Philippines for two years. She worked, amongst others, for Habitat for Humanity’s Centre for Innovation in Shelter and Finance. As project management consultant she provided technical assistance to help microfinance institutions enter into- and find funding for housing microfinance products for low income families.
From 2009 until early 2013 Willemijn lived in Nairobi, Kenya where she worked for Alios Finance, a finance company that provides specialised finance products to small and medium enterprises in Sub-Sahara Africa. As business development officer Willemijn has seen with her own eyes that lack of access to adequate finance products is one of the key obstacles for enterprises and cooperations in developing countries. Willemijn has actively built and maintained a large network in East-Africa, aided by her proficiency in the local language.
Prior to her international adventures Willemijn has worked as a legal officer at the Court of Rotterdam. Willemijn holds a bachelor’s degree in international economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
