About the role
For this role, we are looking for a passionate and innovative person to join our team of business developers. As a key player in our organisation, you’ll partner with the (regional) management to shape and implement our global business and marketing development strategy, driving the attainment of our ambitious targets. As business developer, you have a keen eye for identifying emerging market trends in our domain and translating these into actionable insights for Agriterra, our donors, cooperatives, and partners. You will report to the CEO.
Main responsibilities
- Write high-quality project proposals for Agriterra and consortia partnerships, with specific emphasis on rural and cooperative development, in the areas of food security, private sector development and climate action.
- Develop coherent and pragmatic logical frameworks and results chains that seamlessly align with proposal budgets and narratives.
- Lead and coordinate comprehensive business development processes across regions and countries, engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to continuously strengthen Agriterra's value proposition and enhance complementarity with key partners.
- Continue to update the Business Development Strategy and its global implementation, taking into account external developments and best practices.
- Actively inform, motivate, train and support regional and country teams in continuously identifying opportunities, pursuing acquisitions, developing proposals and budgets in accordance with internal policies, procedures and external requirements.
- Build, maintain and oversee key donor relationships, while leading and supporting the expansion of Agriterra’s strategic global relationships across sectors and countries.
- Pipeline development, high-quality analysis, monitoring and reporting and ensuring effective collection and reporting of management information on market and business development.
What do you offer?
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role with a focus on business (proposal) development, acquisition, and project management;
- Good knowledge and understanding of international development and institutional donor networks, demonstrable affinity with the area in which Agriterra works;
- Able to thrive under pressure, managing frequent deadlines and ambitious targets;
- Willing and able to travel frequently;
- Proven ability to maintain strategic oversight, combined with strong organisational, listening, communication and negotiation skills;
- Fluent in English (oral and written), Dutch and/or French would be an asset;
- Required competences: proven excellence in active listening, strategic communication and persuasive proposal writing. A business mindset, supportive and proactive nature, creative, flexible, and result driven.
- A work permit for the Netherlands is required.
