Empowering farmer organisations. Sowing the seeds of change together.
Are you driven by impact? Do you believe strong farmer organisations are the foundation of thriving rural communities?
At Agriterra, we partner up with farmer organisations to help them grow stronger - economically, organisationally and socially. From our Dutch roots, we work side by side with farmers, sharing knowledge, building trust and creating local prosperity.
For our work in Ghana, we are looking for a committed and hands-on Cooperative Advisor who wants to make a real difference together with farmers, cooperatives and partners across the agricultural value chain.
Your role as a Cooperative Advisor
As a Cooperative Advisor, you work closely with horticulture- and crop-based cooperatives and farmer organisations in Ghana. Together, you strengthen their business foundations and help them take confident steps towards investment readiness, market access and sustainable growth.
You act as an advisor, connector and facilitator—supporting cooperatives to translate their production potential into strong business plans and viable partnerships. You build bridges between farmers, financial institutions, buyers, service providers and public-sector actors, always with local ownership at the centre.
You don’t work for farmer organisations—you work with them.
Together with farmer organisations and partners, you will:
- Coordinate and deliver independent cooperative advisory support across project phases, including project development, scoping, assessments, and implementation, in line with agreed frameworks and procedures.
- Support administration and reporting by contributing to report writing, documenting progress, challenges, innovations, and monitoring project implementation.
- Build, maintain, and expand professional networks and represent Agriterra in relevant platforms and partnerships.
- Communicate regularly with project teams on progress, opportunities, risks, and challenges.

- Ensure quality assurance by delivering specialized advisory services in line with Agriterra’s service standards, ensuring consistency and timeliness.
- Supervise and lead small projects where applicable, including task delegation, coaching, and mentoring of less experienced staff.
- Act as a trainer on one or more Agriterra key topics and contribute to internal and external knowledge development.
Who you are
You bring both grounded expertise and a collaborative mindset. You feel at home in the field as well as at the table with partners and institutions.
You have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Development or a related field.
- At least 3–5 years of relevant experience working with farmer organisations, agribusinesses or development programmes.
- Strong knowledge of Ghana’s agricultural sector, especially horticulture (vegetables and fruits). Experience with cocoa, cashew or shea is a plus.
- Practical experience with cooperatives and farmer organisations, including advisory services, facilitation, business planning and donor-funded projects.
- The ability to translate farm-level realities into clear business and financial insights.
- Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of Twi or other Ghanaian languages is an advantage.
- Confidence in using MS Office for analysis, reporting and presentations.
- Willingness to travel regularly within Ghana and work closely with farmers in the field.
What we offer
At Agriterra, you join a collegial and purpose-driven team that believes in partnership, learning and shared growth.
We offer:
- A full-time position for one year, with the intention to extend.
