Agriterra is looking for a Senior Finance Officer (SFO) to join our team in Indonesia. Based at our Representative Office in Bandung, you will play a key role in ensuring strong financial management and compliance across our projects - so farmer organisations can thrive.
About the role
As Senior Finance Officer, you will be responsible for sound financial administration, reporting, and planning across Agriterra’s projects in Indonesia. You will monitor, control, and forecast project finances, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and support high-quality financial decision-making.
Beyond finance, you will work closely with the Country Manager on broader operational tasks, including HR, IT, and project monitoring, planning, evaluation, and learning (PMEL). This role offers hands-on involvement across the full project budget cycle - from design to closure.
Reporting line
You will report to the Finance Manager at Agriterra Headquarters and the Country Manager in Indonesia, providing regular updates on budgets, risks, and opportunities.
Location: Indonesia - Bandung, West Java.
What you will do
Financial administration & reporting
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete project financial administration
- Manage smooth month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure correct recording of donor income in the general ledger
- Review internal and external financial reports before submission
- Analyse budgets against actual expenditure and ensure donor compliance
- Identify financial risks and support mitigation measures
- Support internal and external project audits
- Prepare and monitor project depletion reports and quarterly overviews
- Monitor staff time-writing and cost allocations in line with donor and internal guidelines
Budgeting & financial planning
- Monitor and forecast project cash flow
- Support annual budgeting and donor proposal development
- Oversee project closures and financial reporting
- Ensure contract compliance and reconcile donor invoices and payments
- Uphold internal controls, Agriterra finance policies, and accounting standards
Capacity building & operations support
- Support and strengthen the capacity of project and finance assistants
- Ensure effective use of MS Dynamics D365
- Support the Country Manager with operational tasks across HR, IT, and PMEL
- In HR-related processes: recruitment support, onboarding and exit processes, personnel file management, contract tracking, and payroll preparation (including insurance)
What makes you a strong fit
You are detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to strengthening organisations - just like the cooperatives we work with. You bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, and internal controls
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in project finance
- Experience with EU-funded and/or UN projects (an advantage)
- Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Willingness to travel within project areas when required
