Sam Kutosi

Sam Kutosi joined Agriterra in 2023 as a cooperative advisor on the HortiMAP project. He has over 18 years’ experience in microfinance and cooperatives at technical assistance, governance, management and consultancy levels with much interest in access to finance to agribusiness value chain actors especially smallholder farmers in savings and credit cooperatives. At Agriterra he offers advisory services to savings and credit cooperatives with a keen interest in addressing the gaps that limit these cooperatives from extending tailored financial services to smallholder farmers in horticulture. 

Sam has worked in different organisations all involved in financial services development such as Mwamba Development Agency, as team leader, MicroSave Consulting as Senior Manager Banking and Financial Services, Agribusiness Initiative (aBi) as Financial Services Specialist; and Opportunity Uganda (Currently Opportunity Bank), as Accountant and Manager.

He holds two Postgraduate Diplomas (Project Planning and Management and Financial Management) from Uganda Management Institute (UMI), Uganda; a Master of Science (MSc) in Banking and Investment from Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Uganda; and Bachelors of Commerce (BCom) Degree from Makerere University (MUK) Kampala Uganda. He also completed a regional Postgraduate Certificate in Agricultural Finance (CAF) from the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), in Kenya. 

Sam Kutosi is an alumni of Digital Frontiers Institute (DFI), South Africa as well as founder member and former treasurer of the Digital Frontiers Association of Uganda (DFAU), an association that brings together digital finance experts in Uganda who are passionate about financial inclusion and professionalism in the digital finance ecosystem. 

Sam is passionate about Savings and Credit Cooperatives as the catalysts of poverty alleviation and sustainable development to agribusiness value chain actors especially in rural communities.
