Increasing rice-production in Isoka District and collective bulking to COMACO

The total membership of Isoka District Rice Association has increased in 2013 to 2425 of which 1374 are males and 1051 are females. Most of the newly registered farmers are those farmers that are growing upland rice varieties, thus NERICA 1 and 4. Farmers are working in 97 groups in order to recieve extension services, make and share information on demonstration plots and collective marketing. Trainings are organised about new techniques of rice production, costing and pricing, post harvest handling. Exposure and exchange visits are organised in Zambia to show their rice production and learn from others.
