Seifu Bogale

Seifu is an experienced Horticulturist and an Agribusiness specialist with more than 15 years of work experience in the areas of coffee research, coffee value chain business, agribusiness development, marketing linkages, value chain development, and private sector development. Currently, Seifu is serving at the Agriterra-Ethiopia team as a Cooperative Advisor.

Previously, he served at Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity/USAID in a capacity of Coffee Technologist, Value Chain Development and Market linkage. Seifu also served at Technoserve Inc in a capacity of Business Advisor and Project coordinator on coffee agronomy and processing programs. Before these all, he worked at Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research, in a capacity of Coffee Centre Director and Researcher in coffee Breeding and Genetics. 

Seifu holds MSc in two discipline such as in Horticulture and Agri-business and value chain management from Jimma University, Ethiopia and a BSc degree in Horticulture from Jimma University, Ethiopia. He is certified in a basic Coffee Quality Evaluation from CLU (Coffee Liquoring Unit), Ethiopia and Q-Grader from Coffee Quality Institute, USA and worked as cupper, in addition to his research activities, for Jimma Agricultural Research Centre and different coffee cupping platforms and contribute a sustainable and active market linkage in coffee value chain.

Though from his experiences, he can properly manage his time and resource, formulate and approve projects, develop proposals and concept notes and has a skill to analyse data statistically.

Seifu, likes to exploit farmers’ indigenous knowledge and coach them to make scientific. Also, has the passion to address and solve the challenge of cooperative and unions for a sustainable growth that finally change the livelihood of each farmers at house hold level.
