Stijn van Geel

Stijn van Geel (Leeuwarden, 1982) joined Agriterra in 2020 as business advisor for Tanzania. Stijn holds a BBA in Agribusiness (Van Hall Institute) and a MA in International Relations (University of Groningen). Through internships during these studies in Spain, Kenya and Tanzania, Stijn became passionate about sustainable agriculture. 

After graduation Stijn worked for almost 12 years for Solidaridad. An organisation that promotes sustainable supply chains. Stijn worked in several positions as grant manager, programme manager and corporate partnerships manager, with a strong geographical focus on East Africa. In 2014 Stijn moved to Ethiopia as acting Country Manager. In a period of 3,5 years Stijn established the country office in Ethiopia. He expanded the portfolio of projects into new sectors such as coffee, dairy, cotton, garments and leather.   

Stijn can be best described as a dedicated, hands-on and enthusiastic colleague with an entrepreneurial spirit. He likes to contribute to economic development by setting-up concrete market driven initiatives that improve the livelihoods of producers and workers. He has experience in connecting and strengthening colleagues to work as a dedicated team towards common goals and targets. With his experience Stijn is eager to contribute to Agriterra’s work and impact for cooperatives and producers in Tanzania.
