The Top 3 of our 'Top 74 Best Performing Clients'

On 21 November the ‘Top 74 of Best Performing Clients’ was presented during the Agriterra Agripool Event. The Top 74 is a yearly ranking of Agriterra’s clients based on their performance. The clients are evaluated on different categories. The categories include a financial ratio analysis, client’s contribution to Agriterra’s 2020 Goals, an evaluation by the business advisor, non-financial performance indicators, the availability of required documentation and a financial health check. Each category has its own weight, leading to a total score per client.
This year 150 clients were analysed, of which 113 cooperatives, 21 farmer organisations and 16 savings & credit cooperatives.
Visitors from all over the world saw how SIDC from the Philippines received the Agriterra Award. 

The Top 3 is as follows: 

Winner: SIDC!

Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative is the largest agri-based cooperative in the Philippines with 37,000 members and still counting. 
SIDC is a cooperative that has reached the tipping point. By taking development in its own hands it has achieved tremendous success in its business that provides services to its members and the community.

No. 2: Rukiga Sacco!

Rukiga Sacco in Uganda is a financial cooperative. They engage in savings for members. They also advance loans to small holder farmers and have around 18,700 clients with loans. 
Their aim is to have maximum satisfaction of their members, in terms of timely delivery of the financial services to the members.
In this movie you hear the story of two entrepreneurial and ambitious farmers: "They gave me 2 million ugx and I bought piglets and a batch of chicks. Since then I have taken two other loans that helped me to expand."

Winner: No. 3: Cooperativa Agraria Central de Cacao Aroma de Tocache (CECAT)

CECAT in Peru is a secondary cooperative. It was established in order to increase the volume of cocoa production, negotiation practices and profitability.
Results:

  • High quality cocoa production has increased and therefore higher payment have been obtained;
  • Exportation of Cacao has increased from 96 to 1300 tons;
  • Thanks to the participation at the Food and Beverage Fair in Swiss contracts with ICAM for large quantity of organic cocoa and with Walter Matter for conventional cocoa were actualised;
  • New warehouses and offices have been built.
