Strengthening the role of cooperatives in the value chain

Building Rural Income through inclusive Dairy business Growth in Ethiopia (BRIDGE+) is a follow-up of the BRIDGE programme, financed by EKN Ethiopia and implemented by a consortium led by SNV with Agriterra and Wageningen University & Research as partners. 
The BRIDGE project contributes to the development of an inclusive dairy sector in Ethiopia, increasing incomes, and producing safe, nutritious food for all.
BRIDGE+ (from 2023-2026) aims to accompany the take-off of the dairy value chain in Ethiopia, benefiting 350,000 smallholder dairy farmers and 4 million consumers, including 1 million schoolchildren located in 10 regions of Ethiopia. 

The goal of BRIDGE+ 

The goal is to create an inclusive and sustainable dairy value chain that benefits all its participants, with a focus on smallholder farmers within the mixed farming system. As part of the consortium, Agriterra will focus its intervention in the market linkages component by building the capacities of primary dairy cooperatives, support the emergence of unions and enhancing policy support to increase milk production and commercialisation to the formal market.
