Bert van Houten

Bert van Houten has worked as a Project Coordinator of web applications at Agriterra since June 2015. After studying Tropical Agricultural Engineering at Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), he worked for several years as a freelance journalist for the Internationale Samenwerking magazine. Before that he visited many countries including Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and worked on behalf of the Red Cross in Iraq. Due to his ever‑present interest in design, ICT and the Internet in particular, he has concentrated on guiding Internet projects such as websites and web applications. In recent years, he has paid special attention to the development and design of the mobile platform.

Bert considers working at Agriterra as a chance to put his knowledge and experience gained in the commercial sector at the service of an organisation that strives for a more equitable international economic development. He finds it inspiring to work in a supporting discipline towards the achievement of his ideals.

Bert has experience in both developing and designing applications and is therefore able to understand the world of both developers and designers, and to bring these worlds together. He likes to achieve results in a team context and to bring large and complex projects to a successful conclusion.
